The Journey
2011: Crossing Paths
Our story proves that timing is everything. We first crossed paths at a wedding shortly after Rogério moved to the U.S. from Portugal. There was an instant spark, but life took us in different directions. It wasn't our time just yet.
2014: Worth the Wait
We believe in second chances. Three years later, we reconnected, and this time, everything clicked. Our true first date was in Gloucester, MA, where over amazing Portuguese food, we realized this was the start of something special.
Roots & Romance
We quickly bonded over our shared culture and love for adventure. From boardwalk trips in Atlantic City to the massive Portugal Day Festival in Newark, NJ—being immersed in the music, dancing, and food brought us closer than ever.
2020: Building a Home
After navigating life's ups and downs together, we took our biggest step yet. In 2020, we bought our first house and moved to New Hampshire to officially build our life and future together.
The Proposal
A European Holiday
In December 2023, we planned the trip of a lifetime: a Christmas celebration in Portugal with a detour to visit family in Paris. Of course, the itinerary had to include one of Kayla’s favorite places on earth: Disneyland Paris!
The Perfect Setting
After a magical day of rides and sights, we stayed for the spectacular evening fireworks. As the grand finale faded over the castle, we paused for what Kayla thought was just "one last picture."
She Said "Sim"
Rogério dropped to one knee, completing a perfect day with the perfect question. It was the easiest "Sim" (Yes) Kayla has ever said.
We can’t wait to start this new chapter and celebrate the journey that brought us here with all of you!
